The BCCI is all set to have a relook at their kit sponsorship deal ahead of their upcoming tour of Australia. Soon after the 13th season of Indian Premier League (IPL), the Indian team will travel to Australia to play all three formats and slated to spend 70 days down under. The leg begins from the 27th of November with the ODI series in Sydney.

Twenty-four hours ago, a piece of information got leaked that BCCI signed up Mobile Premier League (MPL) as its new kit sponsor. However, the cricket board is yet to confirm the development late until Monday evening. Times of India has reported that the companies that picked up the tender document in August did not present their proposals due to lack of clarity and consensus.

The same could most likely write back to the board on matters concerning sudden changes in their sponsorship-related policies and the direct conflict between MPL and the other e-sport and gaming platforms. Further conversations could take place on Tuesday whether MPL could be roped in as the kit sponsor within the same capacity or with the changes brought.

The BCCI’s signing of the deal with MPL is not consistent with the keyword ‘transparency’ since it chose to strike a three-year agreement without a tender process of Expression of Interest (EOI). The deal could be struck at a base price of INR 65 lakh per match along with BCCI being responsible for the kitting of Team India’s outfit.
