BCCI Says No Salary Hike For The Staff: Report

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earned a profit of INR 25,000 crore than the last fiscal of the world’s richest board owing to the cricket. Despite such colossal boost, BCCI said a big no on the salary hiking to its employees.

India’s board is the richest cricket board in the world by a mile now. There are around 100 employees on the payroll of the board. The employee’s report at its headquarters, called the Cricket Centre, at the Wankhede Stadium.

According to the sources, the increments have been on halt following internal war like situation. There is some struggle going on. The battle is between the six staffers with the Board that handles the files of Indian Premier League (IPL).

The six staffers work on the fourth floor whereas the rest of the members work on the second floor of the headquarter.

“Increments of all employees at Cricket Centre are in check over promotion of a particular employee in the IPL division. After the last IPL, those in the BCCI in-charge of the tournament recommended that this person is endorsed to the post of manager. However, the BCCI CEO, Rahul Johri, objected claiming the person face upgradation only a year earlier,” the BCCI source said.

Vinod Rai-led Committee of Administrators (CoA) has refused to comment on the issue. The Apex Court of the country picked the committee.

According to the sources the ‘floor war’ was going on for some time.

Statement of BCCI on the salary issue:

“The CoA meeting will take place in Delhi today. The staff hopes the increments issue will be resolved,” the source said.

“Johri has some objection to what is felt as preferential treatment to those handling the IPL. The COA did not share a desire to interfere but they may have to ensure now things don’t get out of hand,” the BCCI source said.
