BCL to be played in two seperate legs after DPL schedule clash

In the latest development, the second-best considered premier first-class competition Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) is bound to be kicking off next month (January), according to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bangladesh Cricket Board Nizamuddin Chowdhury with wedged into the DPL.
“So far, the BCL is scheduled to start from January 5,” Nizamuddin was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
The BCL was kicked-off in 2012-13 in a bid to raise the standard of the game and subsequently help the cricketers to make most of the opportunity while considering the Test fold.

Pertinently, the sixth season of the BCL is slated to be beginning from January 5, 2018, which wedged into the capital-based competition Dhaka Premier League to somewhat send the administration into a tizzy.
It further becomes interesting to point out that the chairman of the Dhaka’s Cricket Committee Kazi Inam Ahmed earlier revealed to the media about the tournament which was scheduled with the curtain raiser on January 20.
Chowdhury further informed that the decision by Metropolis of Dhaka should be declared soon, as both the tournament has the earlier suggested the gap of 15 days owing to the early announcements.
“The Dhaka Premier League is also expected to start from January 20, but the decision regarding the DPL will be taken later,” Nizamuddin maintained.
On the other side, with BCL administration separating the BCL in a bid to organise the Dhaka-based league, as the second leg is expected to feature the players featuring in the four zonal teams after participating in the country’s National Cricket League (NCL).
The two legs of the competition have been suggested owing to the accommodation of the DPL which will be further held after the completion of the Dhaka’s premier league.
Adding much to the surprise the two of the four team franchises has questioned the administration regarding the early start of the tournament while feeling there is not enough time to prepare for the healthy competition.

On the other side, the chief selector for BCB in the form of Minhajul Abedin remarked the preparation is going in full swing to build up four teams, as he further suggested 80 percent of the work has been done.
“We have already completed 80 percent of the four teams,” Abedin remarked.
According to Abedin, the best performers would also participate in the second leg of BCL following the culmination of DPL season while reiterating the Test players are also supposed to get a chance
“We want the performers of the NCL along with the HP [High Performance] players in the teams and are also willing to accommodate national players who will play the Test series,” Abedin suggested.
The DPL is the division league which simultaneously houses as many as 12 teams in the List A format.
