Biographical films on cricketers have become a trend in recent years. The life stories of the likes of MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Azharuddin have already created waves in the theatres and the fans might witness yet another biopic on a cricketer’s life. This time around the cricketer will be Dinesh Karthik. According to media reports, the cricketer’s life will be portrayed on the giant screen in the coming days.

The reports also suggest that the movie will focus on his breathtaking performance against Bangladesh in Nidahas Trophy final last year.  Chasing 167, India were off to a good start thanks to Rohit Sharma but a wicket-maiden from Mustafizur Rahman in the 18th over, left India with 34 runs to get from the last 12 balls. With Karthik new at the crease and newcomer Vijay Shankar struggling to time the ball, Bangladesh were well ahead.

So far, Karthik has played 26 Tests, 91 ODIs and 32 T20Is, scoring over 3,000 international runs. While Karthik’s batting talent is undeniable right from the time he made his debut in 2004, he has never managed to cement his spot in the team. Recently, he was once again dropped from the ODI team for the ongoing series against Australia and many believe that it is now end of road for the batsman as far as his World Cup hopes are concerned.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
