While the fans go overboard in their praise or criticism for the players more often than not, it is quite rare from former players. With thousands of fans following them, the former players are nothing less than a role model. But sometimes the players seem to forget it and former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar recently did that on Twitter. A decorated batsman and a renowned commentator, Manjrekar is a popular face in the cricketing circle.

However, the cricketer-turned-commentator seemed to have forgotten it on Wednesday as he ended up disrepescting two of India’s fast-bowlers while praising MS Dhoni. It happened after Dhoni once again starred with the bat for Chennai Super Kings during their clash against Delhi Capitals. The Super Kings were looking set to finish on a below par score before Dhoni turned the tide with some big blows in the end overs.

The highlight of the knock was the final over bowled by Trent Boult. Super Kings collected 39 runs from the final two overs with 21 runs coming from the final over. Dhoni blasted Boult for two sixes, a four, a double and a single to make sure Super Kings finish on a high. And in order to praise Dhoni’s last over heroics, Sanjay Manjrekar disrespected Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat as he tried to convey that the Super Kings’ heroics came against a better bowler this time. Dhoni had already taken Umesh and Unadkat to cleaners earlier this season but the way Manjrekar described the veteran batsman’s latest exploits, it left a bad taste in the mouth.

“This was no Unadkat or Yadav, this was Trent Boult in the final over that Dhoni took to the cleaners. ??????,” wrote Sanjay Manjrekar.

Meanwhile, Dhoni remained unbeaten on 44 from just 22 deliveries as Super Kings recovered from a slow start to post a daunting total of 179 for 4.
