Bollywood Superstar Sanjay Dutt Acquires Harare Hurricane Franchise In Zim Afro T10 League

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has purchased a team named Harare Hurricane in the upcoming Zim Afro T10 league. The Indian celebrity along with Sohan Roy, the Founder of Aries Group of Companies, will be joint-owner of the team. 

The Zim Afro T10 league, which will be the franchise-based league in Zimbabwe, will be a 9-day tournament. The league will kick start from 20th July and the final is slated to take place on July 29th at Harare Sports Club. A total of 5 teams will take part in the tournament.

Apart from Sanjay Dutt-owned Harare Hurricane, Durban Qalandars, CapeTown Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves and the Joburg Lions will be the other four teams taking part in the Zim Afro T10 league. Players will be sold to teams based on a draft system, which is scheduled to take place on 2nd July at a grand ceremony in Harare.

Sanjay Dutt talked about his association with Harare Hurricane. He said that cricket is a religion in India and he feels it’s their duty to take the game to every corner of the world. He explained:

Sanjay Dutt further went on highlight Zimbabwe’s history with the game and said that he’s looking forward to his team doing well in the league. He added: 

“Zimbabwe has a rich history in the sport and to associate with that and help fans have a great time is something that truly gives me joy. I am looking forward to the Harare Hurricanes doing really well at the Zim Afro T10.”   

Franchise cricket is continuously growing in different parts of the world. Apart from this Zimbabwe-based league, recently the International League T20 took a major step to promote cricket in the associated nations.

The UAE-based league is all set to organise a Continent Cup T20 in Kenya to help International Cricket Council grow cricket in different parts of the world. The league will begin on 9th June in Kenya with the final set to take place on 23rd June. A total of 9 teams will take part in the tournament.
