It has taken interesting brains to work on the fascinating project in Rwanda by giving their best before making the cricket stadium available owing to its interesting process which was further left open for conducting the cricket matches.

However, it’s pertinent to mention that, the idea of the stadium was truly inspired by the bouncing ball which is an all-important weapon for the fast bowlers in the gentleman’s game.

“The inspiration comes largely from two places: the green rolling hills of Rwanda and the trace of a bouncing cricket ball,” the founding partner of the Light Earth Designs Michael Ramage was CLAD Global.

Regarded as the home for the cricket, the architecture was based on the Light Earth Designs which is also applied in the United Kingdom which further saw the administration thrusting on the minimum carbon level in the construction procedure.

The international stadium was constructed with the use of local equipment after the donation was made through the crowdfunding.

“The project is innovative both from the point of view of sport and architecture,” Ramage maintained.

Former England cricketers, Michael Vaughan and David Gower, have also supported the cause during the launch of the construction campaign.

Moreover, with Rwanda youth showing the keen interesting in the recent past in cricket, the administration of the growing sport has worked hard to make things possible by coming up with the scenic stadium in the peripheries of the capital Kigali.

With stadium being built over the stretch of the 4.5-hectare land, the Cricket Stadium Foundation for Rwanda has observed the lack of the basic facilities in the country would affect the youth.

“The idea of bringing cricket at an international level to Rwanda is very important for the development of the sport in the country and will allow for fixtures that generate a lot of interest inside and outside the country,” Ramage concluded.

In a bid to bring the natives together, the Rwandan government has been working hard to make the all-possible facilities available for the younger generation.

Moreover, the design of the stadium was further inspired by the famous rolling hills of the African continent in Rwanda.

While keeping the stadium natural to its landscape, the wetland is also in the vicinity of the stadium which the management is expecting it to be the watershed moment for the sport in Rwanda in itself.

The items used in the structure include the earth block comprised of the soil cement and the ceramic tiles.
With the parabolic rooftops, the recycled items were also used during the structure building.

Interestingly, the idea of the construction of the stadium was floated in 2012 which now houses the change room press box and the restaurant.

In the outskirts of the capital Kigali, the stadium facilities include HIV testing lab to provide free assistance to the locals.

Concluding, the stadium is in its initial phase and with the time the arena is expected to get the gymnasium and the swimming pool.
