Former Australian Chinaman, Brad Hogg has revealed as to who he thinks is the better off-spinner between Nathan Lyon and Ravichandran Ashwin. Hogg took to Twitter to reveal the best off-spinner in world cricket at the moment and also explained the reason behind his preference.

With all the cricketers being in isolation due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, it has given them time to interact with their fans through social media. Brad Hogg also conducted a Q&A session on his Twitter account, wherein he has made some interesting choices and revelations.

Brad Hogg Names His Pick Between R Ashwin And Nathan Lyon

During a question and answer session with the fans on social media, a fan asked Hogg who is the better off-spinner among Ashwin and Lyon. Responding to this, the former Australian spin bowler claimed that Lyon is a better pick simply because the 32-year-old cricketer has significantly improved over the last year.

Hogg tweeted, I feel Lyon has taken the mantle from Ashwin over the last year just as the best off spinner, but I love the way both continue to improve there games and not be complacent where they are at. #hoggytime”

Both Ashwin And Lyon Have Had Exemplary Careers So Far

R Ashwin is the fastest Indian bowler (also in some records the joint-fastest in the world) to reach the 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 and 350 wicket mark in Test cricket in terms of the number of innings. In 2013, he took his 100th Test wicket, becoming the fastest Indian bowler to the milestone and the fastest in the world in over 80 years.

In 2017, playing his 45th Test, Ashwin became the fastest bowler to pick up 250 Test wickets, bettering Dennis Lillee, who had achieved the landmark in 48 Tests. In 2019, in his 66th Test match, Ashwin became the joint-fastest bowler, along with Muttiah Muralitharan, to take his 350th Test wicket.

Lyon is Australia’s third-highest Test wicket-taker, with his 390 scalps placing him behind only Shane Warne (708) and Glenn McGrath (563).

The 31-year-old took 20 wickets during last summer’s Ashes series as Australia retained the urn with a 2-2 draw against England.
