Breaking: Virat Kohli Ruled Out of County Stint with Surrey

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is ruled out from his County stint with Surrey. Kohli had a suffered a neck injury in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL. Kohli suffered the injury during the 51st match of IPL 2018. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed the news.

Virat Kohli was assessed by a BCCI medical team and the decision is taken after subsequent scans.

Virat Kohli will begin his training and subsequently undergo a fitness Test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru from June 15.

This is a big blow for Virat Kohli.

Consequently, Virat Kohli will miss out on the chance to play his maiden County Championship. Kohli had decided to skip the historic Test match against Afghanistan in order to prepare himself for the England tour.

The Indian team will tour England for three T20Is, as many One-Dayers and five Test matches. As Kohli had a mundane previous tour of England, it was a welcome sign for him to ply on his trade for Surrey. However, the destiny had other plans for the Indian captain.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli had struggled to get going in England as he had an average of 13.50 in the 2014 tour.

This is a bad news for both Indian Cricket as well as Virat Kohli. Playing in County Championship would have definitely helped the Indian captain in preparing better for the crucial England tour. Consequently, Virat Kohli’s county stint would have helped him in getting acclimatised to the English conditions.

Thus, this untimely injury is going to hamper the preparation of the Indian captain.
