David Warner signed off from the Indian Premier League‘s 12th season with yet another stunning performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The left-handed batsman starred with the bat on Monday as Sunrisers thrashed Kings XI Punjab by 45 runs. Warner scored 81 off 56 balls to help the Sunrisers post a daunting total of 212 for 6 after being put into bat. The bowlers then joined the party and restricted Kings XI to just 167 for 8 to hand their team a huge win.

David Warner will now head back to Australia where he will start his preparations for the upcoming World Cup which starts from May 30. The southpaw is in stunning form and will be the one to watch out for in the World Cup. Warner, who made a comeback to high-profile cricket through IPL after the one-year ban, hit the ground running. In just 12 outings, he smashed eight fifties and one century.

The Australia star finished the season as the top run-scorer, having scored a staggering 692 runs from 12 matches at an average of 69.20. Warner’s last six scores in the season read 70, 51, 50, 67, 57, 37 and 81.

Warner will now look to hit the ground running for Australia as he will don his national jersey after more than a year. But before starting his international duty, Warner left an emotional message for his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammates, owners and fans. He thanked the franchise for retaining him despite the ball-tampering scandal and others for their support, wring:

“I can not express my gratitude enough to the @sunrisershyd family for your support, not just this season but also for the last year. It’s been a long time waiting but it was great to be back amongst the boys. Owners, support staff, players, social media team and the fans thank you very much for welcoming me back with open arms. I thoroughly enjoyed being back out there swinging that willow. Good luck to the guys for the rest of the tournament and finish ??”
