Legendary batsman Virender Sehwag has condemned China after a Colonel-rank officer and two soldiers of the Indian Army were martyred in a “violent face-off” with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley area of Ladakh on Monday night. The officer was commanding an infantry battalion of the Army.

The face-off took place while efforts to de-escalate the tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh were taking place. As per sources,  casualties have taken place on the Chinese side too but as usual, the communist government has not disclosed the actual figures.

“During the de-escalation process underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place yesterday (Monday) night with casualties on both sides. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers,” the Army stated in an official statement.

Tributes have been pouring in from across the country for the brave soldiers who laid their lives and Virender Sehwag also did his bit. The former India opener paid his condolences to the martyrs and also made sure to point out China’s surprising actions during these tough times of the pandemic.
