The wait is finally over. Kings XI Punjab superstar Chris Gayle is all set to light up the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after missing the first seven games of his side.

After being benched for the first five games of the tournament, Chris Gayle was to play his first game of IPL 2020 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, he had to miss the clash due to food poisoning. KXIP head coach Anil Kumble had confirmed the news during the match.

Later, Chris Gayle had to be admitted to the hospital and he had to miss the following game against Kolkata Knight Riders too. The ”Universe Boss” had even posted a photo on social media from his hospital bed.

Chris Gayle confirms his comeback date:

On Tuesday, Chris Gayle finally confirmed that the wait is over and he is all set to take the field. The West Indies star is likely to play his first game of the season on Thursday when his side takes on his former team Royal Challengers Bangalore in Sharjah.

“To all the fans out there, the wait is over. The Universe Boss is back. I know you all have been waiting for such a long time, the wait is over. Unless something drastic happens to the Universe Boss again, which I hope not,” Chris Gayle said in a video posted on KXIP’s Twitter handle.

The southpaw also fired a timely warning to the other teams as he said KXIP are confident of winning all of their remaining seven games.

“You know, it is still possible. I know we are at the bottom of the points table but it is still possible. Seven games to go, we believe we can win all seven. I urge each and every one of the guys to still have the self belief. “

“The only way we can go is up. It is only up from here. So we gonna do it, we can do it,” he said.

KXIP will be hoping that Gayle’s return changes their fortunes. With just one win from their opening seven games, they are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. Another defeat will all but seal their fate in IPL 2020.
