West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle is one of the many Caribbean players, who will return to light up the 13th edition of the IPL in UAE this year. Set to don the jersey for Kings XI Punjab, its official Twitter handle predicted how many innings will Gayle take to reach three figures.

With six centuries under his belt, Chris Gayle has the most number of it in IPL history. As far as runs go, the southpaw has 4484 runs, which makes him the fifth-highest run-getter and Gayle’s 326 sixes are the highest in history. His unbeaten 175* is not only the highest in IPL but also T2os. The former West Indies captain bagged the Orange Cap twice in 2011 and 2012 for Bangalore; however, his exploits could not guide the franchise to the title.

As the Kings XI Punjab’s official Twitter handle posted the question, Chris Gayle himself chose to answer the question. The 40-year-old stated that one inning is all is going to take for him to reach his seventh IPL hundred.

The veteran moved from the Royal Challengers Bangalore to Kings XI Punjab in 2018 and has yielded underwhelming returns by his standards. He has accumulated 858 runs combined in two years so far as the franchise finished 7th and 6th in the previous two editions respectively.

The Mohali-based franchise also became the first team to depart for the UAE on Thursday. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced the BCCI to shift the IPL to the UAE this year.
