Of late, the franchise cricket has become a regular phenomenon in the game. Meanwhile, the newbies to join the list is Afghanistan. They are set to open a fresh page in the cricket books by starting their tournament named Afghanistan Premier League 2018.
The inaugural edition of Afghanistan Premier League 2018 will begin in October. Furtherly, the world-class players like Chris Gayle, Brendon Mccullum and Shahid Afridi are set to feature in the imminent Afghanistan Premier League 2018 as well.
23 matches to be played in Afghanistan Premier League 1st season:
Coming to the tournament, it would get played with five primary states in the country; Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Paktia and Balkh. Players auction will take place in the first week of September while the opening match will get kickstarted on October 5th.
All the matches will get hosted in the UAE. Meanwhile, the tourney is bound to start on October 5, and the final will get held on October 23. Thankfully, Afghanistan Premier League also got the nods from the top players of the game as well.
“The Afghanistan Cricket Board has achieved in its short stint the Full Member status of the ICC (International Cricket Council) and Test status as well. We are delighted that today we witness the launch of our new league which will provide global fans and audience an opportunity to watch top class T20 cricket,” Shafiqullah Stanikzai, CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, said in Dubai on Monday.
“And the logo that we have unveiled today symbolizes the spirit of Afghanistan as a country. It represents the nature of the Afghan people who are truly patriotic and who now have fallen in love with the great game of cricket.”

Meanwhile, the chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board, Atif Mashal added they are thinking to launch the Afghanistan Premier League for a long time now. However, it finally came into existence in 2018.
“We planned this tournament last year. However, today we have taken this important step. This league is a new chapter in the history of Afghan cricket that will benefit all major stakeholders. Players will be able to play competitive cricket. Youngsters will be able to learn from some of the legends of the game. Success has no boundaries and with APL, we are taking our cricket beyond borders.
However, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Afghanistan. Presumably, Afghanistan Premier League 2018 might give good returns as T20 franchise cricket is a red-hot entertainment for cricket fanatics.
