South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris is currently suffering from a side strain which has kept him out of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side in this year’s IPL. According to Mike Hesson, Director of Cricket of RCB, Chris Morris is set to miss the match against Mumbai Indians on Monday but has been recovering steadily.

“The mood’s good, we have spent time reflecting on our performance against KXIP, we obviously do not accept that as our standard, we have been training with a purpose. Chris Morris is progressing really well but he is unlikely to play the match against Mumbai. He is one guy who we would love to have back as he gives the side a right balance,” said Hesson in a video posted from RCB’s official Twitter handle.

RCB’s head coach Simon Katich believes that the absence of Chris Morris is causing problems in balancing the side:

“We will look at things, when we first looked to pick our team at the start of the tournament, Chris Morris was a part of it, he balances our side and it has become a little more difficult to balance the things at the moment,” said Katich.

Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020

Virat Kohli and his men have played two games so far; winning one and losing the other. While the team made a winning start to their campaign by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 runs, they suffered a heavy loss against Kings XI Punjab, thanks to a swashbuckling ton from KL Rahul.

Kohli has struggled to find his form with the bat and will be desperate to go big this time around. The men in red and black will take on the Mumbai Indians at the Dubai International Stadium in their third match.
