England will be ready to travel to Pakistan for a bilateral series in the near future, head coach Chris Silverwood told reporters after the first day of the opening Test of the three-match at Emirates Old Trafford.

England last visited Pakistan for a bilateral assignment way back in 2005-06 and Chris Silverwood, who revealed that he has never been to Pakistan, said his team will have no issues in traveling to the country and testing themselves on those wickets.

“I think we are getting there. Personally, I would have no problem with that. I’ve never been to Pakistan so it would be nice to go and have a look. I know our batsmen would look forward to batting on their wickets. For me, it’s great that it’s back at top of the conversation” Chris Silverwood told Cricket Pakistan.

Silverwood’s comments come after Pakistan Cricket Board CEO Wasim Khan recently urged the ECB to send its team for a white-ball series before their scheduled Test series tour in 2022.

Khan also reminded that the Azhar Ali-led Pakistan team agreed to travel to the United Kingdom for the ongoing series despite a surge in Covid-19 cases in the country being considerably high.

England are due to tour in 2022, and we’d love to have them coming over well before then a shorter tour. It’s something that we’ll speak to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) about it,” Wasim Khan told Sky Sports.

International cricket returned to Pakistan last year when Sri Lanka and Bangladesh traveled to the terror-ravaged nation for a series of white-ball internationals and Test matches [by Bangladesh]. PCB CEO have been working closely to bring top teams like England and Australia to Pakistan for a full series instead of playing them in the UAE, and it will be interesting to see how the ECB responds to PCB’s request, given the fact that Pakistan agreed to tour them for a series in such unprecedented times.
