One of the major problems for the England Cricket Team in the Test format of the game is the form of Jos Buttler. The flamboyant batsman, who had a brilliant success in the last couple of years failed to deliver goods in the last five Test matches for England. Meanwhile, the English coach Chris Silverwood backs the wicketkeeper-batsman to do best in the impending future.

Surprisingly, Buttler managed to score only 158 runs in his last five Test matches for England. With Ollie Pope making waves with the bat, Buttler needs to get into his groove as quickly as possible to retain his position in the team.

Speaking of the same, the coach feels that scoring runs will give massive confidence for the batsman to get going. He believes Buttler will be back among the run-scorers following his match-winning knock against South Africa in the final T20I game.

He scored a brilliant 57-run knock off just 29 deliveries to give a perfect stage for England in a massive chase of 223.

Riding on his brilliance, the skipper Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes used the stage–to perfection to register one of the finest chases in the shorter format of the game.

“Runs breed confidence within a batsman — to see him come off with a smile on his face in the way he did was superb. Hopefully, he’ll take a lot of confidence from it and bring that with him to Sri Lanka,” Silverwood told British media.

“The more they’ve played together, the better they’ve got — we’ve seen the improvement throughout the series so I don’t think we’re a million miles away. But we’ll obviously refocus now on the test series against Sri Lanka and look to pick up where we left off here,” Silverwood added.

Following a brilliant tour of South Africa, England will land in Sri Lanka to play a couple of Test matches, which will be part of ICC World Test Championship.

After the series, the players will join their respective teams for IPL 2020.
