It seems like it is the end of the road for Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt in the international cricket. The respective Pakistan Cricket Board isn’t interested in bringing back Asif and Salman back to the international field. However, the flamboyant cricketers once used to be the star cricketers for their nation. Later, their involvement in match-fixing and other illegal issues dented their career thus staying away from the game of cricket.

PCB is concentrating on youngsters – Haroon

In a meeting with the Senate Standing Committee on inter-provincial coordination, the former Pakistan cricketer, Haroon quoted saying the experienced Mohammad Asif hasn’t met the fitness standards, which kept him away from the selection.

Meanwhile, after the completion of the ban period, the ICC allowed the players to get back into their cricketing shoes. However, the respective board never gave them the chance to represent the nation.

Speaking of the same, Haroon quoted saying the respective board is working on shaping the youngsters for future rather than going with Mohammad Asif or Salman Butt.

“I think, instead of on focusing on these two players, the PCB is concentrating on [developing] young players. The youngsters, who would have [potentially] long careers ahead,” Haroon said.
