The BCCI has reportedly sacked Sanjay Manjrekar from its commentary panel. The former India batsman is one of the most experienced and popular commentators in the game right now but the Indian cricket was reportedly not happy with his work and thus decided to drop him.

Sanjay Manjrekar was not in Dharamsala for the first ODI between India and South Africa which was eventually washed out without a ball being bowled. On Friday, the BCCI called off the entire series due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sanjay Manjrekar was on the circuit as a commentator for a long time. The former India batsman was part of the commentary panel for the last three World Cups and almost all ICC  events since bringing down curtains on his illustrious career. According to Mumbai Mirror, the BCCI is also planning not to include him in the IPL commentary panel.

“Maybe he will be left out from the IPL panel too. At this stage it is not on top of our mind. But the fact is they are not happy with his work,” said a BCCI source.

The decision comes after a turbulent 2019 for Sanjay Manjrekar where he landed in some big controversies. He first called Ravindra Jadeja a bits and pieces cricketer and then a few months later questioned the credentials of fellow commentator Harsha Bhogle. He, however, had apologized for both of his comments later on.
