Court Orders To File FIR Against Hardik Pandya For Ambedkar Tweet
India allrounder Hardik Pandya has landed in hot waters for his alleged comment on Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. As a result, a special SC/ST court, on Wednesday (March 21), directed Jodhpur police to register an FIR against the Indian cricketer.
The petition has been filed by D R Meghwal. According to the petitioner, Pandya posted the derogatory comment, on December 26, 2017. Meghwal insisted that the comment Ambedkar and hurt the sentiments of the people of his community.
“Which Ambedkar ??? The one who drafted a cross law and constitution or the one who spread the disease called reservation in the country,” Pandya purportedly posted on his twitter timeline.
The comment did not go down well with Meghwal. And the member of Rashtriya Bhim Sena in Rajasthan’s Jalore district moved an application against the cricketer on Tuesday. In his application, Meghwal said that Pandya’s comment was not only an attempt to insult and disregard the constitution and the architect of the constitution deliberately but it also hurt the sentiments of the community he belongs to.
“I learnt about Pandya’s comment through social media in January. It appeared quite derogatory for a figure like Ambedkar and was an attempt to spread hatred and create division in the society,” said Meghwal. “By doing so, he has committed a serious crime and hurt the sentiments of my entire community,” Meghwal said.
Meghwal went on to say that Pandya should be handed adequate and suitable punishment for his ‘crass act’.

Meanwhile, the highly-rated allrounder is currently out of action. Following the long tour of South Africa, he along with several other big names was rested for the Nidahas Trophy. The allrounder did not make much of an impact in South Africa. He will be keen to regain his best form. His next assignment is the upcoming Indian Premier League where he will play for Mumbai Indians.
