It is another thriller at CPL 2018. The Jason Holder-led Barbados Tridents pulled out a cracking win at Florida to thump Andre Russell-led Jamaica Tallawahs by 2 runs.  Steven Smith starred for the Tridents to receive the man of the match for his all-round performance.

The glorious piece of cricket has been displayed by both teams at Florida that kept the fans on edge of their seats. In a thriller, Barbados bowlers just got hold of their nerves to register a memorable victory of the season.

Steven Smith-Sha Hope’s partnership lifts Barbados:

After losing the toss, Barbados Tridents were put into bat first. Failing to counter the new ball, openers Dwayne Smith and Hashim Amla went for the cheap scores while Martin Guptill registered yet another duck out.

However, it was Steven Smith and Shai Hope who balanced the ship to bring back Barbados Tridents back in the game. They both added a 103-run partnership for the 4th wicket in bowler-dominating conditions.

However, Andre Russell pulled the things back in Jamaica favour as he sent Steven Smith and Shai Hope in a quick succession. The quality death bowling saw Barbados being restricted to 156.

Steven Smith delivers with the ball:

Not only with the bat, the flamboyant Australian also delivered with the ball as well. Though openers Glenn Philip and Johnson Charles added 80 runs for the opening wicket, Steven Smith turned things in one over.

The classy left-spinner bowled out both the openers in the very same over to bring back Barbados again. Then came Ross Taylor and David Miller who couldn’t cope up well for the team when it required.

There run-a-ball knock didn’t help the cause for the team who ended up 2 runs short to the target. Steven Smith finished with 2/19 in his 3-over spell while Wahab Riaz and Mohammed Irfan bowled decent enough.

All in all, it was a day completely belonged to Australian Steven Smith. Rightly, he was adjudged as the man of the match as well.
