CPL 2018: Mohammad Irfan Replaces Junaid Khan in Barbados Tridents

The Pakistani left-arm fast bowler, Mohammad Irfan will replace his fellow teammate, Junaid Khan in CPL this year. The tall pacer from Pakistan will feature for Barbados Tridents side for the upcoming Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The 7 feet 1 inch, Irfan will feature in the tournament that will kick-off from August 8.

Junaid Khan has informed the side that he will be unavailable for the month-long tournament. Due to his tall figure, batsmen feel challenging to pick his line.

The head coach of Barbados Tridents, Robin Singh while confirming his replacement said,

“It is a disappointment not to have Junaid available. But the experience of another left-arm quick like Mohammad Irfan will be an asset to our campaign.”

The 36-year-old cricketer from Pakistan is in the twilight of his career. He recently featured for Edmonton Royals in the Global T20 Canada tournament. His presence in the team will boost the bowling unit of the team.

He is no stranger to international cricket and this know-how, coupled with his unique ability with the ball, means he will be a key part of the Tridents attack and a handful for opposing batsmen.”

Mohammad Irfan made his international debut in 2010. At an average of 30.71, he has bagged 83 wickets in 63 ODIs.

In the T20I format of the game, Irfan has 94 scalps at an average of 20.94 and an economy of 7.25.

Meanwhile, Barbados Tridents will commence their schedule against Guyana Amazon Warriors on August 12 at the Providence Stadium. In the last season, the finished on a lowly fifth position at the end of the tournament.
