CPL 2020: 162 Players, Officials Test Negative For Covid-19 On Arrival

The Caribbean Premier League said that the players, officials and administrators who have traveled to Trinidad and Tobago for the tournament have tested negative for the novel coronavirus. In a statement, released by CPL, the said that the players will be kept in quarantine for 14 days and will go undergo regular testing.

Tournament operations director Michael Hall said that it has been a gigantic effort to get everyone safely flown to Trinidad and Tobago. He also mentioned that their main priority will be to maintain well being of everyone involved in CPL. It is encouraging for the board to come up with negative cases early on.

“It has been a colossal effort by all involved to get everyone safely into Trinidad and Tobago,” tournament operations director Michael Hall said in a statement. “Our main priority is the health and well-being of all those involved in CPL and the wider population in the host country, to have got through this first step without any cases is encouraging news, but we will remain vigilant.”

Players, Officials and support staffs have traveled to participate in the tournament from different parts of the globe. The league comes after the West Indies returned from England, registering a 1-2 loss in the Test series against the hosts.

The tournament will run from August 18 to September 10. The entire tournament will be held in two venues at Trinidad and Tobago without any crowd.
