Bad news keeps following the Chennai Super Kings [CSK] camp and the latest one is regarding the Covid-19 test results of talented Indian batsman Rurturaj Gaikwad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad had once again returned positive as far as the Covid-PCR test is concerned which means that the uncapped Indian batsman will continue to remain in isolation and will not join the team’s bio-bubble until he tests negative on consecutive occasions within a 24-hour time frame.

Gaikwad was one of the 13 members of the Chennai Super Kings camp who were tested Covid positive and while 12 of them, including pacer Deepak Chahar, have recovered, the same hasn’t been the case with Ruturaj.
This means that Ruturaj is effectively out of CSK’s tournament opener against defending champions Mumbai Indians, which will take place on September 19 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Problems galore for CSK as Ruturaj Gaikwad set to miss IPL 2020 opener
Ruturaj Gaikwad assumed greater importance after southpaw Suresh Raina decided to quit the 13th season due to ‘personal reasons’. In the absence of Raina, Ruturaj was looked as one of the cricketers in whom CSK could possibly invest for the rest of the season.

But, with him in isolation currently, CSK might look to promote Ambati Rayudu at the No.3 spot with the hope that the former Indian batsman emulates his feats of the 2018 season, where he spearheaded the batting line-up by scoring 602 runs. Rayudu, however, wasn’t able to repeat his heroics of the 2018 edition last year as he managed a mere 282 runs.
