South Africa’s fast bowler Dale Steyn is all excited to wear the coloured jersey for the Proteas. Steyn was finally named in South Africa’s ODI squad for the Zimbabwe series. In fact, Steyn who has dealt with a plethora of injuries in the last two years had played his last ODI for South Africa nearly two years ago. Thus, Steyn who is regarded as the best fast bowler of the modern era is excited to hit the ground running.

Cricket South Africa has named Steyn in the ODI squad while keeping him in contention for the next year World Cup. Ergo, Steyn will like to make the most of the opportunity.

Steyn will add experience to Proteas pace battery.

Meanwhile, Imran Tahir has also returned to the ODI squad of the Rainbow nation. There will be three-match One-Day series against Zimbabwe, with the first one to be scheduled on 30 September. Therefore, it would be a good way for the Faf du Plessis-led side to get their act together for the next year ODI carnival.

On the other hand, South Africa will not have the services of their talisman, AB de Villiers who shockingly took the retirement from the International arena in May.

Consequently, it makes Dale Steyn place in the side more important. The talisman has all the experience under his belt. However, there is no denying the fact that Steyn is past his prime. In fact, the spate of injuries hasn’t been a friend to him.

In fact, Steyn had also made it clear the next year ODI showpiece will be swansong tournament in the white ball cricket. The right-handed fast bowler has scalped 180 wickets in 116 matches he has played. Hence he would like to add more to his tally.
