Manish Pandey, the Indian middle-order batsman, is ecstatic about team India’s win over Sri Lanka and his contribution in the victory. Team India won the third and final T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka by 78 runs to lift the series 2-0. After the first game was washed out, India dominated the next two games and won both of them in a comprehensive manner.
Captain Virat Kohli made some changes for the final T20I that included Manish Pandey returning to the Indian side along with Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Manish Pandey played an important role in the win, playing a crucial knock of 31 runs off just 18 balls and stayed until the very end. He was also impressive on the field as he grabbed a catch and also affected a runout. Talking to Chahal TV after the match, Manish Pandey expressed his views about his performance.
I Am Happy To Contribute In The Victory: Manish Pandey
“After a long time, I got a chance to play for India. I was talking with the coaches during training about how to grab opportunities and making sure that I deliver. It felt like I was playing after a long time and I am happy to contribute to the side’s winning cause,” Pandey said on ‘Chahal TV’.
He added, “Batting and fielding are equally important, and it is important to give each aspect, a proper time during training. In a close match, catches and good fielding helps a lot.”
India clinch yet another series against Sri Lanka
Team India won the final T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka and clean swept the series 2-0. The first game of the series was washed out due to heavy rain and India had won the second game. This was the decider.
Having won the toss, Sri Lanka bowled first. India started in a rock-solid manner and had a 97 run stand for the first wicket between Shikhar Dhawan and K.L. Rahul. Both the openers scored half-centuries and laid the foundation of a big score for team India. Manish Pandey and Shardul Thakur played quick-fire knocks to end the Indian innings at 201-6.
The Lankan batsmen never seemed comfortable since the start of their innings. Indian bowlers kept on clinching wickets at regular intervals and gave the Lankans no chance of dominating the game. Eventually, the Lankan innings bundled up for 123 runs in 15.5 overs and this led to India winning another bilateral series by a handsome margin. Shardul Thakur was adjudged the man of the match due to his all-round performance. Navdeep Saini received the man of the series award.
It is India’s 13th victory against Sri Lanka out of the 19 games played between both sides. India now has the most wins against a team in T20Is. Team India will now face Australia in a three-match ODI series at home, beginning from 14th January.
