Sri Lankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal has been suspended for a couple of T20I’s after he was charged with an overrated offence. It means Chandimal will miss the next couple of matches against India and Bangladesh. Sri Lanka have not appointed Chandimal’s replacement for two matches yet.
The Nidahas Trophy has seen some superb performances from all the three sides. The first match saw Sri Lanka toppling India in the first encounter. It was a sensational innings from the blade of Kusal Perera which helped Sri Lanka chase down 174 with utmost ease.
Meanwhile, India defeated Bangladesh in the 2nd encounter courtesy a special knock by Shikhar Dhawan. Earlier in the day, it was the Indian bowlers who bowled in the right areas and restricted Bangladesh to a meagre 139 runs.
The 3rd encounter
In the 3rd encounter, it was Bangladesh who chased down a record 215 to keep the tournament pretty open. Sri Lanka after batting first had posted a daunting total of 214 on the board and it looked they would win the match comfortably. However, Bangladesh had other plans in mind. Openers Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal provided a sensational start, and in the end, it was a brilliant knock of 75 by Mushfiqur Rahim which helped Bangladesh chase the total down in the final over.
