Dinesh Karthik, Kolkata Knight Riders captain, has hinted that the Sunil Narine experiment at the top of the order might just continue in the upcoming games.

Sunil Narine’s role as an opener has come under severe scrutiny after the West Indian off-spinner once again failed to give the Knight Riders a good start during their run-chase of 228 against Delhi Capitals.

Narine, who has previously registered scores of 9 [10], 0 [2], 15 [14] in the past three games, was knocked over by fast bowler, Anrich Nortje by a 147.6 kph fullish length delivery, one that off-spinner tried to unsuccessfully hoike towards the on-side.

Post Sunil Narine’s latest failure, social media was once again abuzz with how the novelty factor behind promoting Narine at the top of the order has gone off, calling for KKR to slot-in a regular opener. KKR’s decision was even more baffling considering the fact that Rahul Tripathi was in the playing XI, and by the looks of his 16-ball 36, the right-hander is in decent touch.

Karthik was asked in the post-match interview whether the time of Narine as an opener experiment is up. The KKR captain, however, said that he hasn’t thought of changing the opening pair and is hoping that the off-spinner will his side good starts in the upcoming games.

“I haven’t thought about changing the opening pair, But maybe after this game, i will sit down with the coaching staff. We still believe in Narine and whenever he gets going, he gets us off to a great start” Dinesh Karthik said.
