Having lost his place in India’s ODI and T20I squad once again, veteran batsman Dinesh Karthik has said he would like to be part of any tough situation that makes things easier for his younger teammates. The right-handed batsman has been in stunning from in the domestic season as he helped Tamil Nadu make it to the final of Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaw Ali Trophy.

With less than a year remaining before the next T20 World Cup in Australia, Dinesh Karthik will be hoping that he continues the same form in the upcoming Ranji Trophy and the selectors consider him once again. While Karthik lost his place in the ODI after failing in the World Cup, his absence from the T20I side is a bit surprising.

Ever since hitting the stunning 29 runs off just 8 balls to fire India to Nidahas Trophy glory, Dinesh Karthik was one of India’s most impressive performers in the shortest format of the game. Overall, in the past two years in T20Is, nobody has managed more not outs than Karthik in a successful T20I chase. In the seven innings he has batted in when India have won chasing, Karthik has been there till the end on each occasion, making 141 runs at a strike rate of 142.42.

And as he awaits another recall from the national team, Dinesh Karthik has made it clear that he would not shy away from batting in tough situations. With India still on the lookout for a reliable finisher, Karthik might get just another chance to prove himself in international cricket.

“All that I have done is I have not tried anything different. I keep saying (myself) is to win matches. I want to be a part of that situation so that make it easy for youngsters”, Karthik said at the sidelines of an event.

“Using my experience and my prowess I think it is important that we face all the tough situations and help the team make sure to cross the winning line” he added.
