Domestic Cricket Legends Who Failed For National Team

Domestic cricket has been considered to be a benchmark to judge a player. Most cricketers have excelled for the national team after leaving a mark on the domestic circuit. But there have been some rare cases where a cricketer who has achieved a legendary status on domestic circuit could not replicate their form for the national team.
Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer has part of the title-winning Vidarbha team. He played 260 first-class games, scoring 19,410 runs at an average of 50.67. He has scored 57 hundreds and 91 fifties with 314 being his highest score. However, he could not replicate his form for the national team.
Mark Ramprakash
Mark Ramprakash averaged 53.14 in 461 first-class matches and played 52 Tests and 18 one-day internationals for England. Despite scoring 35,659 first-class runs and a further 13,273 in List A games, Ramprakash sometimes struggled at international level.
Mohammad Sami
Mohammad Sami played 179 first-class matches for Pakistan, picking up 610 wickets at an average over 27. Despite his fine-run in the domestic circuit, he failed to go to distance for the national team. He had the record of picking up 85 wickets in Tests and 121 in the ODIs.
Steve O’Keefe
Steve O’Keefe has played only 15 international matches for Australia. But he has achieved major success in domestic cricket by picking up over 300 wickets from 88 matches.
Faisal Iqbal
Faisal Iqbal featured in 26 Tests and 18 ODIs for Pakistan but failed to prove to be a consistent player. He, however, scored over 12000 runs in First-Class cricket at an average of nearly 40. But could not replicate his form in international cricket.
