Team India pacer Ishant Sharma thanked legend Sachin Tendulkar after the latter congratulated him for his terrific spell on the third day of the first Test against England at Edgbaston.

Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma produced yet another magical performance to rattle the English battle-order. He returned with a five-wicket haul to reduce England to 180 runs in the second essay. The 29-year-old returned with five for 51 in his 13 overs to send half of the English batsmen home.

Meanwhile, it was Ishant Sharma’s eight-wicket haul which included the dismissals of Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Stuart Broad. The pacer from Delhi was stunning with his line and length and continuously posed questions to the England batsmen. Furthermore, Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav also made significant contributions.

After a superb display from the bowlers, India’s hoped that Virat Kohli would inspire them to win the first Test, but didn’t happen as India lost the game by 31 runs.

After missing out on his 150 in the first essay, Virat Kohli waged a lone war in the second innings as well. However, he got out to 51 to Ben Stokes.

However, mesmerised by Ishant’s efforts, Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to shower heaps of praise on him. He also admitted it brought back memories from Lord’s where Ishant bagged seven wickets, the last time India toured England.

India eventually won the match and was the only win in that series which they lost by 3-1.

Fantastic effort by @ImIshant. Brought back memories from the game at Lord’s in 2014,” Tendulkar said.

Sachin always motivates Ishant Sharma

Sharma was quick to reply to Tendulkar and said he feels motivated now to do more against England. He also thanked him for the kind words.

Thanks Sachin Paaji… for your kind words!…nothing motivates better when it comes straight from the God-of-Cricket,” Sharma wrote.
