Eng vs Ind 2018: KL Rahul Puts his Manchester Hundred In Top Drawer

KL Rahul rates his Manchester hundred as one of his best. Rahul was getting consistent runs at the International level. However, the flamboyant batsman could not get a big score under his belt.

Meanwhile, the stylish Karnataka batsman was at the top of his game in the first T20I against England. The right-hander scored an unbeaten 101 off just 54 balls to take India to a comfortable eight-wicket win. Rahul timed the ball to perfection and there was a touch of class in his fine innings.

Thus, Rahul has put his match-winning hundred in his top drawer. Furthermore, this hundred came after a gap of almost two years which made it even more special.

“This is a very satisfying time for me. I have a few international hundreds but this means the world to me. It is very special to me because the last international ton I got was about two years ago,” said Rahul while talking to Dinesh Karthik in the video uploaded by BCCI.tv.

Rahul added that this innings meant the world to him. The Karnataka batsman has had a tough last two years as he is ‘In and Out’ of the team. Thus, things haven’t been easy for him. Therefore, Rahul is glad to end his rough patch of form at the top level.

“I have been getting fifties in the IPL and even in the Test matches. Been in and out of the ODI team. It’s been a rough one and half year with injuries. I haven’t chased anything with so much heart and passion so this means the world to me. I have not been someone who chases numbers but when I was not getting the three-digit mark then I realized how important it is,” he added.

Rahul went on to add that he was scoring runs but had failed to make a substantial impact. He was getting starts but the finishing touch was missing in his armory. However, Rahul is delighted that he could give a perfect start to his team on England tour.

“I can’t really say it was rough or hard as I was getting the fifties. Sometimes being out-of-form means getting out in single digits but that wasn’t happening. I was getting starts, I was batting welL. Obviously getting injured and being in and out of the team, not finding a spot in the team was tough.”

This special knock has done a world of good for KL Rahul. Consequently, the right-hander will like to continue with his good form and make the most of it.
