The England fast bowler Liam Plunkett has heaped praises on his teammate Moeen Ali. In fact, England’s all-rounder didn’t have the best of Ashes series last year against Australia, as he looked off colour.

However, Ali was able to bounce back in the limited-overs format in style. The Worcestershire spinner scalped 12 wickets in the five-match ODI series against Australia which also included a spell of four for 46 in the last ODI at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Moeen Ali grew in confidence after his stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.

“You felt for him because he struggled a little bit (in the winter) but he’s a good player and was always going to come good,” said Plunkett, speaking at a private bowling session.

Plunkett added the form in the IPL came at the right time for Moeen Ali. Meanwhile, Moeen didn’t receive a lot of chances in the IPL. He scored 77 runs in the four innings and scalped three wickets. Plunkett added Moeen Ali had done a great job in the first ten overs, as he hasn’t let the opposition off the hook.

“I think that form in the IPL came at a great time for Moeen, he came back and got a hundred for Worcestershire and obviously with bat and ball he’s been great for England and is a great allrounder. “He’s been doing a great job, even in the first ten (overs) he’s been coming on, especially against the left-handers, and keeping it tight and picking up wickets”.

England has achieved great heights in the 50-overs format. Thus, Plunkett added they had worked hard for their success. Furthermore, the fast bowler said they are always looking to improve their game.

“I think we have set the standard recently in one-day cricket in how good we can be, but as I said, everyone is trying to get better. I think we have to keep improving and going the way we are. Everyone is willing to improve and if you keep practicing right and willing to improve then you will”.

England is playing some fine cricket in the limited-overs format. Thus, the Eoin Morgan-led team will like to continue with their good form.

However, England will have their work cut out against the Indian team. The first One-Dayer will be played at Nottingham, Trent Bridge on July 12.
