The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli once again produced a one man’s show. He singlehandedly batted against the English bowlers in bowling friendly conditions of England. On the second day of the first Test in Birmingham, Kohli smashed a scintillating century. It further saw Suresh Raina lauding the efforts the Team India’s batting mainstay to rack up maiden Test ton in England.

There’s no denying Kohli struggled early on during his innings but he acclimatised to the conditions well to achieve the significant feat.

However, he later managed to read the pitch well. It was once again a great battle between James Anderson and Virat Kohli. Sam Curran added a further back to his teammate who irritated Kohli a lot at the beginning of his innings.

It was Dawid Malan, who spoiled a straightforward chance at second slip when Virat Kohli was batting on just 21. However, he played cautiously until he reached his half-century mark.

Well, it seems that English players were having an extra dose of butter as Malan wasted another chance on 51.

Since there on, Indian skipper never looked back. He did not let the bowlers have the upper hand on him. The skipper played calm and composed innings and eventually controlled his sensitive nature. He took English bowlers with aplomb and scored a first Test ton on English soil.

However, Kohli did not get much of the support from the other end. Apart from Hardik Pandya and Ravichandran Ashwin, who was looking promising none other could deliver far better. So much so, none of the Indian batsmen could cross 30-run mark.

India’s batting mainstay Kohli got a moderate kind of support from Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav despite both scored only five, and one respectively.

Moreover, India added 92 runs to their total for last two wickets in which skipper alone scored 86 out of those.

Suresh Raina congratulated Virat Kohli on his ton:
