ENG vs IND 2018: Twitter In Split As Adil Rashid's Delivery Leaves Virat Kohli Dumbfounded

One of the highlights of the third and final One-Day International between England and India was Adil Rashid castling Virat Kohli with an absolute crackerjack delivery. The delivery was perhaps reminiscent of the Ball of the Century Shane Warne bowled to Mike Gatting in 1993.

The India skipper was well set on 71 in the series-decider and was on his way of another ODI ton. However, Rashid delivered an absolute gem of a delivery to cut short the right-hander’s innings. The ball had pitched on leg stump, ragged back past the batsman’s outside-edge and uprooted the off-stump.

And what made the whole dismissal even more better was Kohli’s remarkable reaction. Just like the others, Kohli was also taken aback by the delivery and he did not refrain from showing his reaction. The 29-year old was stunned beyond belief. He looked at the pitch to see what demons the pitch had in it. There was none. He then looked at his batting partner and slowly headed back to the dressing-room.

Speaking after the game, Kohli admitted that he was surprised to see the amount of turn Rashid extracted.

“I’ve been playing against Rashid since U-19 and it was a terrific ball, so it’s just one of those balls that you have to take in your stride and say “Wow”. I’m surprised that his turn has reduced over the years, but this one was an amazing ball,” he said.

Meanwhile, Twitter was quick to poke at Kohli for his priceless reaction. Here are some of the reactions:

Now coming to the game, England thrashed India by 8 wickets to seal the three-match series 2-1. Asked to bat first, India could only manage a modest 256 for 8 in the allotted 50 overs.

Barring Virat Kohli, none of the other batsmen could provide much of a fight. In reply, England chased down the total in less than 45 overs at the loss of just 2 wickets. Joe Root (100*) and Eoin Morgan (88*) shared an unbeaten partnership of 186 to take their team home.
