Rohit Sharma hits an unbeaten hundred to lift India to a win the Bristol against England.

Rohit Sharma starred with the bat, as India thrashed England by seven wickets in the third T20I to win the three-match series 2-1. It was a knock of the highest quality, helping India chase down a massive 199 with utmost ease.

India had started their chase on a good note, racing away to 21 inside two overs. However, India soon found themselves on the backfoot after both Shikhar Dhawan (5) and KL Rahul (19) departed cheaply.

But Rohit remained till the end to ensure, India end up on the winning side. He played his shots throughout which never allowed the required rate to go out of hand.

The right-hander reached his fifty off 28 balls when he hit Ben Stokes for a four in the ninth over. He completed his ton in the 19th over off 56 deliveries, as India chased down the total in that over only. Rohit’s stunning knock studded with 11 fours and five sixes.

Speaking after the game, he said,

“That’s the style of my play. Assessing conditions was important at the start of the innings. Once we see off the new ball, we always knew wicket was a good one with short boundaries.

Held my shape well. I like to be calm, not to panic too much. I know once you’re there, you can make it up later. Always important to try and assess the bowlers as well. With four fielders inside, there’s always that option to take chances.

Hardik Pandya towards the end well supported him. The all-rounder slammed 33 off 14 balls and finished the game with a six.

Speaking about Pandya, Rohit said,

“Pandya has done that for a few years now. More often than not he’ll play such innings in the back end. The way he bowled gave him confidence. He’s a fearless individual. That’s what the team wants him to do.”
