England and Hampshire seamer, Reece Topley will miss the rest of the County season after sustaining yet another stress fracture in the back. As a result, the 24-year-old will undergo surgery next week.

Meanwhile, the tall and lanky pacer already had four stress fractures on the back. So far, he had represented England in 10 ODIs and six T20Is. He had played only two Championship matches in the last three season and is also on a white-ball contract this season.

Topley had returned to competitive cricket after recovering from a back injury in May this year. He took part in the ‘A’ tri-series, involving England Lions, India A, and Windies A. The seamer had an impressive stint claiming eight wickets in the competition.

However, Hampshire dropped him from the side that won the final of the Royal London Cup versus Kent last month. Meanwhile, it came as a surprise to him, as he missed the game despite taking seven wickets in six matches.

His injury diagnosis comes in the same week Hampshire confirmed spinner, Mason Crane and seamer Brad Wheal would also miss the remainder of the season with similar injuries.

Reece has bagged 16 wickets in the ODIs while claiming five from six T20I games.
