England Cricket team fans reverberated with slogans; “Where is your Virat Kohli Gone” following the Three Lions’ 31-run win against India at Edgbaston to go 1-0 up in the five-match Test series. Meanwhile, the England Vs India 2018 1st Test swung from one end to other until its final moments.

Well, when play resumed on the fourth day, it was a matter of only one session to get to the results. While the hosts required five wickets to win, India needed 84 runs with skipper Kohli still at the crease.

In the end, it was England who held their nerve in their 1000th Test to win it. Ben Stokes led the way picking up four crucial scalps in 14.2 overs – to give the hosts a thrilling win.

Moreover, England completed a dramatic turnaround on another day out for the bowlers in Birmingham.

Resuming at 110 for five with Kohli unbeaten on 43 and Dinesh Karthik 18, James Anderson gave the hosts the perfect start. A brilliant good-length delivery from the England paceman found Karthik’s edge to see Dawid Malan completing a simple catch after dropping a couple.

The onus was on Kohli, who after scoring a brilliant 149 in the first innings, once again looked in ominous touch. All Kohli needed of Hardik Pandya was to stay with him.

Pandya tried his best and struck a couple of boundaries as the momentum started to swing back to India’s court. With the balance shifting, Joe Root turned to star Stokes, who did the trick for his side. He first got rid of Kohli for 51 and followed it up with Mohammed Shami to reduce India for 141 for eight.

With Pandya still at the crease, India still had hope. Ishant Sharma, who bagged a five-for in the second innings provided India with another ray of hope, this time with the bat.

But two brilliant deliveries from Adil Rashid andStokes ended India’s hopes of taking an important lead in the series.
