Team India cricket fans slammed International Cricket Council (ICC) for teasing Indian skipper Virat Kohli over mic-drop celebration after England won the Edgbaston Test by 31 runs. Many believe ongoing England vs India Test series would offer plenty of surprises.

Meanwhile, England rode on Ben Stokes’ four-wicket haul to lead the five-match series 1-0. Needing 84 runs to win on day four, India lost back-to-back wickets as the momentum shift towards England.

The onus was on Kohli, who after scoring a brilliant 149 in the first innings, once again looked in ominous touch.

However, a brilliant incoming delivery from Stokes undid all the hard work as Kohli departed for 51 runs. Hardik Pandya along with Ishant Sharma offered some resistance, but two brilliant deliveries from leg-spinner Adil Rashid and Stokes finished off the proceedings.

However, the incident took place on day one of the first Test after a moment of brilliance from Kohli got Joe Root run out. Ecstatic with joy, Kohli made the gesture of a mic-drop while celebrating the prized scalp of his counterpart.

Previously, Root had made the same gesture at the end of the ODI series last month that England won after trailing 0-1.

Kohli’s act in Birmingham was a payback of sort although English opener Keaton Jennings felt it was “cool”.

Meanwhile, it did not go well with the Indian fans who lashed out at ICC for making fun of themselves.

Moreover, Kohli spoke to match referee Jeff Crowe which escalated the speculations that it is regarding the mic-drop saga.

Root himself was not complaining against Kohli’s gesture and thought it adds spectacle to Test cricket.

I actually think it adds to the whole spectacle of Test cricket, it gives a bit of humour to it, and it makes for a very entertaining series for something like that to happen so early on, so we’ll see how things pan out over the course of the five test matches,” Root told Sky Sports on Thursday.
