Team India skipper Virat Kohli has been the standout player for India in the ongoing England Vs India 2018 Test at Edgbaston. He smashed a breathtaking 149 in the first innings. It helped visitors claw their way back into the match from a precarious situation. Even in the second innings, Kohli was the lone man standing between victory and a defeat for India until Ben Stokes dig the damage. Before things happened, former Pakistan skipper Misbah-Ul-Haq praised the efforts of modern-day batting great.

Kohli has been a great ambassador of the game for good 8-10 years and his record across formats goes on to suggest the greatness of the batsman.

The 29-year-old Kohli is also an animated character on the field and tends to indulge in verbal volleys against oppositions. In the first innings, he took a dig at English skipper Joe Root after running him out with a brilliant throw.

Root had celebrated his century in the final One-day International against India with a drop of his bat. Kohli also mocked him with that gesture following his dismissal.

Former batting veteran Misbah has heaped praises on Kohli. He stated that there is no doubt about the fact that Kohli is the best batsman of the modern generation. Further, he also hailed him for the attitude and approach towards the game.

England Vs India 2018: Misbah-ul-Haq shower praise on Virat Kohli

“I feel Virat Kohli is a wonderful player and I don’t think there’s anyone who would argue with that. He performs equally well in all three formats of the game. And his batting talent is complemented by his attitude and approach to the game which is second to none,” Misbah said.

“He seems to enjoy his game and is a top batsman at the International level who has already achieved so much but rest assured, he will break some more records in the future too,” he further added.

Meanwhile, India was placed on 110 for five with 84 more runs needed to win the match. The onus was definitely on the skipper. However, Stokes and James Anderson had inflicted the pain upon visitors to lead the five-match Test series 1-0 by clinching Edgbaston Test by 31 runs.
