England vs India 2018: 4th Test, Lunch Report - India on Top in Southampton

Despite losing the toss on a batting pitch, Indian continuously impressed with their fast bowling display. They rattled England’s top-order to keep India in the driver’s seat at the end of the first session of England vs India, fourth Test in Southampton.

Initially, England won the toss and asked the visitors to bowl first. Indians came up with an unchanged XI that played in Trent Bridge. Meanwhile, England replaced Chris Woakes and Ollie Pope with Sam Curran and Moeen Ali.

The stupendous bowling display by Jasprit Bumrah and the ample assistance by Ishant Sharma and Hardik Pandya put Indians on top of the game.

Without an iota of a doubt, Indians completely dominated Englishmen in the first session of the penultimate Test.

Jasprit Bumrah breathes out the fire:

Right from the first delivery, Bumrah was spot on with his line and lengths. The tinge of green on the wicket has supported Indian bowlers to rattle the defence of the England star batsmen.

Bumrah bowled a peach of the delivery to get rid of Keaton Jennings and also to give the first breakthrough for India. It was an exceptional inswinger to Jennings, who never expected it jag back.

Furtherly, Bumrah trapped Joe Root plumb in front of the wickets, but the old demon of bowling no-ball struck again. However, Ishant Sharma sent Root back to the hut satisfying the Indian fans.

It was again Bumrah, who came back strongly to get the nick from Jonny Bairstow’s willow that settled into the gloves of Rishabh Pant. Hardik Pandya’s claimed Alastair Cook when Virat Kohli completed a brilliant catch.

All in all, it was a perfect session of play for the Kohli-led side at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. At the end of the first session, England scored 77 runs. Currently, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler are battling it out for England.
