The thing with Hardik Pandya in Tests has always been his inconsistency. One day, he delivers the man of the match performance, on the other day, he completely looks like a club cricketer.

In the third Test at Trentbridge, Hardik Pandya was the star for India with the ball and bat. But, against the same opposition, he showed poor skills at The Ageas Bowl, Southampton to see the wrong side of the things.

Hardik Pandya contributed four runs in the 4th Test –

The all-rounder had fared pretty poorly for India at Southampton. In the first innings, he scored four runs with his willow before getting dismissed to Moeen Ali. It was the best chance for him to show up his skills to bat alongside Cheteshwar Pujara but he failed, again.

It would have been a different scenario for India, had Hardik Pandya hung with Pujara in the first innings. However, he got a golden opportunity in the second innings to guide the team to victory while chasing 245.

He got Ajinkya Rahane at the non-striker’s end who was knocking the ball beautifully. Pandya was sent ahead of Rishabh Pant to stay in the middle for India. In the end, he once again failed to utilise the opportunity.

Hardik Pandya walked back with a duck in his kitty. Ben Stokes got better off him to get the outside edge that was nicely picked by Joe Root in the slip cordon. All in all, it ended up giving a bitter result to India.

However, ahead of the series, a lot has been expected from the India all-rounder who was in submissive form. Apart from the third Test, he never lived up to the expectations for the team.

However, it would be interesting to see how he boosts himself in the upcoming Test for India.
