India is yet to practice after facing Lord’s Test drubbing by an innings and 159 runs. In fact, the tourists had faced an ignominious defeat and should have been eager to get back to the nets and practice.

However, it seems that some shoulders have dropped in the dressing room. Thus, the Indian players need to lift themselves up and get back to business. In fact, it is well said that Practice makes a man perfect.

India needs to bounce back stronger.

In fact, it is noted that the Indian team was ill-prepared for the England tour. India only played one tour match against Essex and it was clearly not sufficient. Furthermore, India had lacked the intensity in that warm-up match. Hence, it has been the same old story of Indian cricket team. They are repeating the same mistakes of South African tour.

India was competitive in the first Test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham but India’s performance at Lord’s was galling.

They were not up to the mark in the second Test match as they didn’t turn up well. Indian team lacked the intensity in their game and it was palpable in the way they played.

Meanwhile, a source said that extra practice doesn’t make sense at this point. Indian coaches will have a chat with players on what went wrong and try to correct them in the nets.

“Coaches talk to the team, try to tell the players where they are going wrong and then work on that in the nets. Extra practice doesn’t make any difference at this stage of the tour,” a source said as per TOI.

It is hard to understand the thought process of the Indian team. They are down on confidence and Virat Kohli needs to inspire his men to bounce back stronger. They need to tick the right boxes to make an emphatic return in the series.

The third Test match will take place at Trent Bridge, Nottingham from 18 August.
