After being blown away in the first innings in London, India needed quick wickets on Day three of the second Lord’s Test match against England. The visitors scalped four wickets as hosts currently trail by just 18 runs at lunch.

Meanwhile, the Day three of the second Test looked completely different. The Sun was out and the Indian bowlers knew that they are in for tough times ahead.

In fact, the Indian seamers didn’t help themselves as they veered off the track in the first twenty minutes of play.

Not many left in the bag for India:

However, lanky fast Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami came back to take one wicket each. Shami was able to trap southpaw Keaton Jennings in front of the wickets.

On the other hand, Ishant got one to move away from Alastair Cook that took the outside edge to settle in the gloves of Dinesh Karthik.

Nevertheless, England skipper Joe Root and Ollie Pope were able to take charge. Pope, who is playing his debut match, showed great resistance as he scored 28 off 38 balls, before Hardik Pandya’s delivery hit him right in front of the wickets. Furthermore, England has used both their reviews for two LBW and have no reviews remaining.

In fact, India missed the services of a third seamer. The Indian team management took the gamble to play only two seamers and had to pay the price.

Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav didn’t hit the right lengths as he gave away 15 runs in four overs.

Therefore, the match is drifting away from India as they’re behind the eight ball after managing a paltry 107 in the first innings.

Meanwhile, experienced James Anderson was the wrecker-in-chief as he took five wickets and ran through India’s batting line-up.

Three Lions skipper Joe Root was trapped in front of the wickets by  Shami at the stroke of lunch.
