India began the 3rd day’s play in a precarious situation. They had lost 6 wickets for 174 runs. However, it was a great partnership of 77 runs between Hanuma Vihari and Ravindra Jadeja which got India back on track. Vihari joined the elite list of batsmen with 50+ scores on his Test debut in England. He batted quite superbly and was ably supported by Ravindra Jadeja at the other end.

Following the dismissal of Vihari, Jadeja took the attacking approach and started smashing the boundaries at will. It was a great display of batsmanship by the comeback man. After bagging 4 crucial wickets in the 1st innings, a score of 86 was always a bonus. It was on the cards and Jadeja showed why he is rated so highly as a batsman in the domestic circuit.

Harsha Bhogle took to his twitter handle and wrote, “Wonderful from Jadeja. And I hope Shami was watching what can happen if you hang in for a while.” Ishant Sharma also supported him very well by blocking deliveries one after the other. However, he was dismissed on 4 after facing 25 deliveries. Mohammed Shami needed to be with Jadeja. However, he went for a big heave and was dismissed by Adil Rashid.

Jasprit Bumrah also batted well and stuck around with Jadeja. However, in an attempt to take a quick single, Bumrah fell way short of the crease and was given out.
