Team India skipper Virat Kohli continued his great run in the Test series against England and went onto smash his 23rd Test century. He missed the landmark in the 1st innings by just 3 runs. However, he ensured he reaches the landmark the 2nd time around. He is too good a player to be getting out on 90 twice in a Test match. It was a special knock from the skipper yet again and led India to a position of comfort.

The visitors are completely bossing the game now and the only result seems likely from here unless there isn’t any rain in the last two days. It will be a huge task for the home team to chase down somewhere around 500 and with two days in the mix, the match looks in India’s grasp. However, you never know about the Indians and the English weather. The visitors have lost quite a few Test match overseas from winning conditions in the recent past.

Virat Kohli has put India in a commanding position

Anything less than a victory from here will be considered as a defeat from India’s point of view. India started Day 3 on 124/2 with captain Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara beginning proceedings. They played very cautiously in the opening session and scored only 24 runs in the 1st hour. Moreover, that was the hour of the day.

Lot of time is left in the game and India needed a big partnership to get them into a winning position. Both Pujara and Kohli played a few wonderful shots and accumulated 70 runs in the opening session. It was splendid batting from the visitors who were criticized severely in the last two games. The duo of Pujara and Kohli shared a 113 runs partnership between each other before the dismissal of Pujara to Ben Stokes.

It was Ajinkya Rahane who came out in the middle to join Kohli. Both continued from where they left in the 1st innings.  Kohli struck a streaky boundary to reach 97 and took a single of the final delivery of the over to reach 98. He struck another boundary through the slip cordon to reach his 23rd Test ton.
