Ace commentator and cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle expressed his disappointment over Sanju Samson being dropped from India A squad after failing the Yo-Yo Test. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has made it mandatory for the players – to clear the fitness test and Samson paid the price for not clearing it.

Samson was rewarded with a place in the team after productive outings in the domestic circuit and in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Playing for domestic Twenty20 league franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) this season, he amassed 491 runs at an average of over 31 and a strike-rate of almost 138.

Before that, he had a brilliant outing in the premium domestic competition Ranji Trophy.

Samson scored 627 runs in seven games with the help of two tons and three fifties. He had also scored a century against the visiting Sri Lanka side last year, in a warm-up game.

However, all his performance went in vain at least for the time being as his poor fitness ruled him out of India A side.

However, an impressive performance for India A could have well put Samson in the reckoning for a berth in the senior team.

But instead of now performing, he would have to improve his fitness. The news has disappointed not only Samson but also others who rate him very highly. And one of them is certainly Bhogle.

The broadcast commentator Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to express his feelings. He opined that the youngster needs a mentor so that he can do justice to his talent.

“I am extremely disappointed that Sanju Samson won’t be in England with the ‘A’ team. I guess the fitness rules apply to everyone but we cannot let a fine talent miss out. Needs an arm round his shoulder,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Jharkhan’s Ishan Kishan has replaced Samson in the India A squad.
