Chairman of selectors MSK Prasad has more or less made it clear that MS Dhoni is not an automatic choice in the Indian team anymore. Speculations are rife over MS Dhoni’s retirement ever since the World Cup ended in July this year. The former India skipper has not played a competitive game since the semifinal loss to New Zealand in the World Cup.

As soon as the tournament was over, MS Dhoni took a sabbatical from the game and later extended it. He is yet to return to action and there is still no clarity over when will he return to action. But the selectors seem to have made up their minds on the veteran. MSK Prasad made it clear that the selectors will bank on youngsters as he said ‘we are moving on’.

“We are moving on,” Prasad said after announcing the squads for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. “Going into domestic cricket, getting his touch back or thoughts about retirement, everything is purely his personal [decision].

“We’ve already laid the roadmap for the future, I’m sure you can see in the way we are selecting the teams. We definitely had a chat with Dhoni and he also endorses our view of backing youngsters,” he added.
