Five ODI players with most destructive power-hitting capabilities

The One Day Cricket has taken giant strides in the last one decade. A target of over 300 runs has become a norm. A lot of credit for these high scores goes to power hitters in the game.

These power hitters help their respective teams in getting off to good starts. Moreover, some of these players also help in providing the finishing touches to their respective sides.

However, we have taken players who are currently active in the International arena. So, if you are an AB de Villiers fan, you might get disappointed in this list.

5. Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler has the ability to take the game away from the opposition. The combative batsman had a fine stint for the Rajasthan Royals in the recently concluded IPL.

The pugnacious right-hander scores his runs at a blistering strike rate of 118.02. Buttler also has a good average of 38.05 while scoring his runs at the brisk pace. The England gloveman has good skills of finishing the innings on a high. Buttler has thus far scored 2816 runs in the 92 innings he has played in the 50-over format.

David Miller is well known to get his runs at a brisk pace. The southpaw batsman can hit the ground running with his performances. Miller is instrumental in providing finishing touches to the Proteas side.

Miller has scored his runs at a good strike rate of 101.13 in the One-Day form. The left-hander has also delivered consistent performances as he averages 37.92 in the 93 innings he has played for his team. Moreover, Miller is a livewire on the field.

3. Martin Guptill

Martin Guptill is an integral part of the New Zealand limited overs set-up. The explosive right-hander has provided a good platform for the Kiwis in many matches. Furthermore, Guptill is a fine fielder. Martin makes use of the powerplay overs to get his runs at a quick pace.

Guptill has scored his runs at a strike rate of 86.4 and at a good average of 42.69. The combative batsman had also scored a fine double hundred against Windies in the quarter-final of the 2015 World Cup.

Glenn Maxwell is one of the most destructive modern day players. The Australian has provided fine finishing touches to his team in many matches. The right-hander is well known to try different strokes.

Maxwell scores his runs at a high strike rate of 123.08 and averages 32.33 in the 81 matches he has played for the Aussies. Thus, Maxwell has the ability to change the complexion of the game in a couple of overs.

MS Dhoni’s pyrotechnics are well known in the cricketing world. Dhoni has done justice to the finisher’s role for the Men in Blue. The wicketkeeper-batsman knows the formula to take the match deep and catapult his attack at the right time.

Dhoni has scored his runs at an impressive strike rate of 88.41. The former Indian captain is consistent with his performances as he has averages 51.38 despite coming out to bat in the lower middle order.

More importantly, MS Dhoni was able to regain his form in the IPL. Thus, it is a positive sign for Indian cricket.
