Five Specifications Which Were Considered For The Selection Of Head Coach

Finally, there comes the End-Card to the suspense in the Indian Cricket. The Supreme Court-appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has revealed that Ravi Shastri is going to train the Indian National Cricket Team once again in the next couple of years. Meanwhile, the five parameters, which were used by the Kapil Dev-led panel to select the certain candidate are revealed.

The Indian board officially announced Shastri as the coach of the Virat Kohli-led side after CAC concluded their press conference chaired by Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy. The former Indian cricketer has been reappointed as the coach of the Men In Blue for two years, meaning he will remain at the helm till the 2021 World T20 hosted by India.

Ravi Shastri will be the coach until November 24th, 2021:

Shastri’s performance with the Indian team as the head coach between 2017 and 2019 earned him his fourth stint with Indian Cricket Team. Before this, Ravi Shastri had served briefly as the Cricket Manager (2007 tour of Bangladesh), Team Director (2014-2016) and head coach (2017-2019) of the Indian Cricket Team.

Coming back to the topic, it is learnt that the Kapil Dev-led panel has applied five parameters to pick the head coach for the Indian team. Firstly, they asked the candidates to explain their philosophy and the plans to take the team forward after taking the role. Secondly, the experience of the coach is considered for the next process.

In third, the panel will look after the achievements of the candidates so far during their coaching stint. Next, they looked after the communication between the players and the coach. Finally, they concluded the interview after checking their knowledge on the modern-day coaching tools.

Kapil Dev confirmed that every individual is pretty close with their abundant expertise. However, a few minor things went in Ravi Shastri’s way, which saw Shastri getting the nod. Perhaps, it would be in the communication part, as Ravi is an Indian, who can understand the language of a local player as well.
